What does it take to win an argument with a narcissist? Well, that depends on your definition of winning.

To begin with, when it comes to knowing how to win an argument with a narcissist, there are a few things you’re going to have to recognize and accept upfront.

First of all, the narcissist's primary agenda is always going to be protecting their false image and over-inflated ego.

Also, narcissists are fundamentally incapable of seeing, hearing, and understanding you in the way you’d like to be seen, heard, and understood.

Having empathy or remorse for the negative and detrimental effect their attitudes and behavior are having on you, is not something that is in the narcissist’s toolkit.

So, understand up front that narcissists are always running their own agenda, and that agenda has zero to do with empathizing with or understanding you, much less supporting and validating you.

Rather, their agenda is solely about winning. And in their mind, in order for them to win, you have to lose.

So, understand and accept up front that this is who and what you are dealing with, and it’s not something that is going to change. Narcissists do not change.

In fact, what’s going on with them is likely to get worse, not better over time. And the sooner you surrender to and accept that reality, and then start making decisions BASED on reality, the better off you’ll be.
